If the valves in your leg veins stop working, it causes blood that should go up to go down. The result? Varicose veins. They are pretty common, in fact they affect about a third of UK adults. However, with the right treatment they’re also easily remedied.

There are two types of leg veins:

Superficial – the ones you can see right under the surface of the skin. These can become inflamed, with lumps and bumps branching out from them and causing the varicose veins you can see and feel.

Deep – you can’t see these. If you’re going to get your varicose veins treated, it’s important to know that these are working well. Sometimes curing problems with superficial veins can help deep veins work better. So it’s well worth getting them checked out.

There are three main types of varicose veins:

Trunk varicose veins
Thick, lumpy, and usually clearly visible.

Reticular veins
Less lumpy, and lying in the deeper layers of the skin.

Spider veins (or thread veins)
Fine and lying close to the surface of the skin. May be red, blue or purple.

Premier Vascular Endothermal Ablation

We offer a choice of highly effective and reliable treatments for all types of varicose veins, depending on what’s right for you.

Endothermal Ablation

Best suited to treating trunk varicose veins. We use radiofrequency (like laser), carried out under local anaesthetic. It’s minimally invasive keyhole treatment, so you should be up and about very quickly.

Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy (UGFS)

Often best suited to superficial veins, this walk-in, walk-out treatment uses local anaesthetic, and clever foam detergent that gets rid of the problematic veins. It works very well alongside Endothermal Ablation.

Thread Veins

This well-established procedure improves the appearance of small reticular veins and thread or spider veins. We use a liquid that helps the body absorb the veins naturally. There’s no need for anaesthetic or a hospital stay.
